Kinja'd!!!

It’s up and running. I misplaced some of the screws for the baseplate but I’ve got enough small hardware laying around that it really wasn’t an issue. It even came with a nice reversible screwdriver to help with the installation. Wiring wasn’t a big deal but I did have to move one wire a couple of times, but everything tests fine now.

No w to figure out how to program and configure it. It has to be better than pressing the same three buttons a few thousand times...

My thermometer reads 90 (probably closer to 85, it runs hot). I really should get around to digging out my window AC.

This is a huge complaint about non-smart thermostats for me. Like would it have killed you to spend an extra dollar for more buttons so every button doesn’t have to do 10 different things?

Nice! Installation on these is really pretty easy, and that screwdriver is a nice inclusion. I actually tossed it in my toolbox for future use . Installation on the Nest Hello on the other hand ... at least for me that was a very different story, lol.

I just use my phone for all programming and control. I haven’t physically touched the thermostat itself in... months.

I was just looking at one of these on National Grid’s website.  I’m a customer so I could potentially get a discount.  But I don’t have central AC so it would really only be good for the winter months.

Need to dial that bad boy back 8 degrees to live in my house! I’m jealous, I have talked about getting a nest since we bought our house almost 5 years ago.

I run a window air conditioner in my home office, where I spend most of my time, so I really don’t need to set the whole house to be chilly - that just seems like a waste. I’m looking more for the dehumidification from the central A/C.

I did sign up for a program whereby the power company can shut down my central  A/C during peak loads. This gave me another $50 off the Nest. It shouldn't really affect me too much since I have that window unit...

I got $100 off plus a free Google mini from my electric provider , so this thing was less than $100. That price cannot be beat.

Right now I'm just trying to figure out how to synch my smart outlets with the Google Home mini. It looks so easy on TV...

the promo I was looking at had the same inclusion.  I also don’t have wifi at my home (got into a feud with Spectrum).

Nice . If we needed A /C I’ d get a nest.

Yoy sh ould g et their smoke detector as well, protects against possible carbon monoxide leaks, shutting down your furnace, since those are the most common source.

Well, my furnace is electric so I don't think that would do me much good...

Electric furnace, wow.... do you not have access to natural gas there?   That can’t be cheap to heat the house in winter.

Be ing able to track daily running time is very useful . It’s helps to figure out efficiency improvements. We heat with propane. Ouch.

I do have gas for the water heater and dryer.

And yes, the furnace does a pretty good job of bankrupting me every winter. I usually leave it set to 58 or so and use oil radiator heaters in whatever room that I am currently occupying, and wear several layers of clothing.
